I Stand By You And You Stand By Me was a performative drawing that took place during the opening of Inter-Being, a group show in the summer of 2024 at Co-Lab Projects, Austin, TX. Members of the public who attended the opening were invited to stand against the side of the concrete culvert and get the outline of their body traced by me. The result was a drawing that spanned the 40 foot wall of the culvert, with the outline of people overlapping each other in a long chain. At the time, I was thinking about ideas of community, protest, and what the act of standing together with another person can mean.
